In July the new pathology service at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and Bolsover Street went live and is now managed by South West London Pathology.
RideLondon – Support SWLP’s charity cyclists!
Approximately 25,000 amateur cyclists took part in a cycling challenge like no other through London and Surrey on Sunday 30 July. In this year’s Prudential RideLondon – Surrey 100 race six members of South West London Pathology staff took part.
Photoshoot for Institute of Biomedical Scientists
In July 2017, the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) used South West London Pathology’s state of the art laboratories at the hub for a photoshoot.
Working with NHS Improvement
NHS Improvement are holding national workshops for hospital trust directors and pathology managers and are using South West London Pathology as an exemplar case study for pathology consolidation.
Careers Day at Kingston Hospital
In May, Kingston Hospital held a careers day giving visitors and potential students the opportunity to meet staff members from Pathology, Maternity, Nursing, IT, Finance, Human Resources, Radiology, Intensive Care, Theatres and many other departments.
Croydon Laboratory Tours
In May the laboratory at Croydon hosted two laboratory tours for staff and visitors giving them the opportunity to find out what happens in a laboratory, meet staff working there and to ask any questions about what happens to sample in the laboratory.
Pathology book success
A pathology book, written by Cellular Pathology consultants Limci Gupta, Valerie Thomas (retired) and Jayson Wang, for those preparing for FRCPath written has received rave reviews on Amazon.
Trauma Education Day
In May, a packed audience joined consultant haematologist, Dr James Uprichard and his transfusion team for a trauma and haematology education day hosted on behalf of the London and South East Trauma and Haematology Group.
