Careers Day at Kingston Hospital

In May, Kingston Hospital held a careers day giving visitors and potential students the opportunity to meet staff members from Pathology, Maternity, Nursing, IT, Finance, Human Resources, Radiology, Intensive Care, Theatres and many other departments. Visitors were able to walk round and find out about all the different departments and roles at Kingston Hospital within the NHS.

Emma Ashley, Senior Clinical Scientist in Clinical Chemistry and Ben Church, Biomedical Scientist in Haematology both manned the stall along with Megan Clarkson, a colleague from Histopathology.

On Wednesday (4 April), the Croydon blood transfusion service went live with the Immucor system. Immucor is the leading provider of transfusion and transplantation diagnostic products in the UK. The new system is fully automated and has high accuracy.

Hepatitis B and C screening in ED

In line with national guidance, Hepatitis B and C screening has now been introduced at Croydon Hospital. The purpose of the initiative is to identify cases of these diseases in patients who may not know they have them, so treatment can be offered early.
