Impact of molecular point-of-care test on the diagnosis of influenza

Dr Elli Demertzi, Consultant Microbiologist based at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has had an article published in the Journal of Infection Prevention. The article, which was co-written by Fran Brooke-Pearce, Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Specialist, appeared in the April edition of the publication.

The article reported on the evaluation of the impact of a new molecular point-of-care test (POCT), the Cobas Liat Influenza A/B for rapid diagnosis of influenza within 20 minutes, on the operational workflow of the Trust, accurate diagnosis and potential cost savings during the winter of 2017/2018.
