Pleural Fluid in Blood Culture set

Reporting frequency TAT - 5 days for negatives and up to 21 days for extended culture

Collection conditions

Aerobic blood culture - prior to innoculation, disinfect the culture bottle top, label the bottle with patient's details without covering the barcodes. inoculate the bottle with between 1-5ml of the fluid. After inoculation, disinfect the bottle top.

Negative bottles kept for 48 hours, positive bottles for 3 months
