Additional information
GPC antibodies are found in 80% of patients with pernicious anaemia, but are also found in up to 10% of healthy individuals.
GPC antibodies are no longer recommended for investigation of pernicious anaemia due to a lack of specificity. Instead, if a patient is being investigated for pernicious anaemia, intrinsic factor antibodies should be requested.
