Lung Biopsy Culture
Container:Universal 30ml (white) or Sputum Pot 60ml (silver)
Collection conditions:For analysis of routine non sterile and sterile specimens with the inclusion of tissues/biopsies, bone and bone marrow. Send dry sterile bottle. All tissue samples should be collected aseptically and transferred directly to sterile sample containers with no additives of any kind. In the case of small fragments, place in a few ml of sterile saline.-
Reporting Frequency:TAT - Microscopy results available same day as receipt, culture 2 – 3 days. Some specimens may have prolonged incubation in which case a result will be issued in 5-7 days.
Additional informationLung biopsies are submitted to the Department of Histopathology for histological staining. All lung tissues/biopsies are processed for Mycobacterial investigation.
Sample stability - 4 weeks.
