New equipment in Cellular Pathology now live

South West London Pathology (SWLP) went live on Monday (23 September) with new equipment from Leica Biosystems for its Cellular Pathology services

Overall, the go-live went well. There are some minor issues outstanding which could cause reports to be delayed in a very small number of samples.

The new equipment brings increased automation to Cellular Pathology, leading to more standardised and process-driven services. Long term, this will enhance turnaround times for Cellular Pathology services across all disciplines. Greater automation and standardisation will also help reduce the risk of human error.

With the introduction of cutting-edge technology, the Cellular Pathology team will be able to pursue more innovative approaches.

If you have any questions about this change or would like to find out more about the new equipment, please email SWLPComms@stgeorges.nhs.uk.
