Microbiology services at SWLP live with a new Laboratory Information Management System

South West London Pathology (SWLP) is replacing its Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and is moving to WinPath Enterprise.

Microbiology at Croydon, Kingston, St George’s Hospitals and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) successfully went live with the new system on Monday 10 October. This marks a significant achievement for teams within SWLP and across the four trusts who have worked extremely hard to make this happen.

WinPath Enterprise is from industry-leader Clinisys, who have introduced this system to many laboratory networks across the UK. WinPath Enterprise is a state of the art, remotely-hosted managed service, and will be introduced to all of the SWLP sites, making the network more stable and resilient.

It will support greater innovation within the network and improve flows of work and efficiency in processes. It will also allow work to be managed and shared more effectively across all the sites in the SWLP network.

The new system has already been successfully rolled out for SWLP Blood Transfusion and Cellular Pathology services and Microbiology is the third area to move over. We hope that all remaining SWLP services will be moved to WinPath Enterprise over the coming weeks.
