South West London Pathology (SWLP) Neuropathologist Dr Leslie Bridges and Histology Manager/Network Lead for Digital Pathology Joanne Lam-Wong have contributed to an article which has been published in the Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology. The article, which was co-written by consultants and researchers from St George’s Hospital, Oxford University and the University of Southampton, focuses on rapid neuroinflammatory changes in human acute intracerebral haemorrhage (bleeding within the brain tissue), which is the most common form of hemorrhagic stroke.
Joanne and her team supported the research by performing immunohistochemistry tests and special stains on the research samples. Dr Bridges contributed his expertise by analysing the results of these tests with the research team. Although the laboratory is not usually credited in this kind of research paper, the authors felt that it was important to acknowledge the crucial input of Joanne and her team.
