Incorrect comment displayed with IgE to mixed fowl feathers allergy test

Since the introduction of the new laboratory IT system on 23 January 2023, the comment being appended to results for IgE to mixed fowl feathers (test code EX71) has been incorrect.

The comment should have said:

‘Specific IgE fowl feathers includes the following: Goose feathers, Chicken feathers, Duck feathers and Turkey feathers’ but was incorrectly displaying as: ‘Specific IgE Caged bird feathers includes the following: Canary bird feathers, Parakeet feathers, Parrot feathers and Finch feathers’.

The issue was resolved by the South West London (SWLP) IT department on 7 August 2024. If you do need IgE to caged bird feathers (test code EX72), please send a fresh sample.

SWLP apologises for this issue and the inconvenience caused. If you would like to discuss this further, please call 020 8725 0025/5106 or email
