Great new opportunity – Band 8a role!

We are looking for Band 8a, Quality Manager/ Health and Safety Advisor to cover blood transfusion across the network. You will be based at St George’s Hospital however you will be required to work across the SWLP sites.

You must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist. You will take managerial responsibility for the Blood Transfusion quality management systems across the SWLP network. You will maintain UKAS & MHRA compli-ance and will be expected to work closely with the Blood Transfusion Consultants at all SWLP sites.

This is a full time post, 37.5 hours per week and you will be expected to participate in the 24hr shift system.

Salary: £46,897 – £54,983 pa inc.

New test codes for requesting immunoglobulins – Epsom and St Helier hospitals and GPs only

Immunoglobulin and serum protein electrophoresis requesting is changing on 8 July 2026. Clinicians can now request immunoglobulins only or immunoglobulins and electrophoresis. This change will enable doctors to more effectively request the tests that are clinically indicated and streamline laboratory testing, delivering improved turnaround times for these tests. This change will apply to Epsom & St Helier Hospitals and their associated GPs initially, and will then be rolled out to all service users in south west London.
