Doctors from Kazakhstan visit our pathology services

South West London Pathology hosted a group of transfusion and haematology doctors from Kazakhstan on Friday 26 June.

They visited St George’s and had a talk on transfusion services in the UK as well as transfusion services at St George’s (including the provision of blood components to support major trauma). The role of the transfusion practitioners and the training of clinical staff and medical students in transfusion was also discussed. This was followed by a tour of the lab to see equipment and processes for issuing blood components. They also had the opportunity to speak to laboratory scientists about how they perform their duties and their interactions with clinicians.
