Cristina Delgado achieves her certification in blood transfusion

We are delighted to share the inspiring story of Cristina Delgado, a valued member of our Blood Transfusion team, who has recently achieved her certification in blood transfusion. This prestigious qualification, accredited by the British Blood Transfusion Society (BBTS) in collaboration with the University of Manchester, marks a significant milestone in Cristina’s professional journey. Her accomplishment is a testament to her unwavering dedication, resilience, and passion for excellence in her field.

Cristina’s path to certification was anything but straightforward. Originally scheduled to sit her exam in May, she made the decision to postpone it to November following the birth of her baby in April. Juggling the demands of studying with the responsibilities of caring for a newborn was no small feat, but Cristina approached the challenge with remarkable determination and focus. Reflecting on her experience, she described the overwhelming feeling of relief when she received her results. “It was a lot to manage, especially with the baby, but I’m so glad I committed to it. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and now I feel more confident and knowledgeable in my role,” she shared.

The certification is not just a personal achievement for Cristina; it also represents a significant step forward in her professional development. As a senior in the Blood Transfusion team, Cristina has always been passionate about her work. This qualification enhances her expertise and reinforces her ability to contribute to the team’s success. She explained, “I’ve always wanted to work in blood transfusion, and this certification aligns perfectly with my career goals. It’s a well-recognised qualification that will support my progression and help me continue making a meaningful impact in my field.”

Cristina’s journey was made easier by the unwavering support of her colleagues. She expressed her gratitude for the team’s encouragement and assistance throughout the process, particularly in helping her access resources and manage her workload. “My team was incredibly supportive. They helped me with tasks and made sure I had what I needed to focus on my studies,” she said. Cristina’s achievement is a shining example of what can be accomplished when talent is met with encouragement and teamwork.

For those considering pursuing a similar certification, Cristina offers valuable advice: “Commit to it 100%. It’s challenging, and you need to make time for it, but it’s worth it—especially if you’re looking to progress in blood transfusion.” She emphasised that while the programme is online, it requires significant dedication and effort to complete the modules and revisions. Her journey serves as a reminder that achieving professional goals often requires balancing multiple responsibilities and making sacrifices, but the rewards are well worth the effort.

As we celebrate Cristina’s success, we also look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for her. Her certification not only enhances her own career prospects but also strengthens the team’s capabilities and expertise.

Well done, Cristina! Here’s to your continued success and the bright future that lies ahead.
