Covid-19 antibody testing now carried out in-house at St George’s Hospital

1 July 2020

SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) antibody testing can now be carried out in-house by South West London Pathology (SWLP), based at St George’s Hospital.

While SWLP have been dealing with samples since antibody testing was introduced in May, the tests themselves have been carried out at another laboratory.

The ability of the laboratories at St George’s Hospital to carry out antibody testing will mean that the turnaround time will be reduced from up to three days to 24 hours.

SWLP Head of Operations Jamie Laughlin says, “We are delighted to be able to carry out Covid-19 antibody testing in-house. The significant improvement in turnaround times as a result of this change will mean a much faster service for those awaiting their results.”
