South West London Pathology had a stall at the St George’s Hospital Trust and St George’s, University of London Community Open Day which took place in November. There were over 60 stands and the event attracted more than 1,000 people.
It was SWLP’s first time at this event so the SWLP stall was focused on our lab tests, the different services we offer and information about a career as a biomedical scientist working in our labs.

At the beginning of the year, South West London Pathology (SWLP) was delighted to award a major clinical blood sciences (CBS) contract for all SWLP sites to global leader in clinical diagnostics Beckman Coulter.
At the end of 2023, South West London Pathology (SWLP) awarded a managed service contract for histopathology to Leica Biosystems.

At the end of last year, testing for Beta-D-Glucan (BDG) was brought in-house. The median turnaround time using the new in-house assay is around two days, which facilitates a greater impact on antifungal stewardship when the result is negative.
