South West London Pathology (SWLP) is introducing new Beckman Coulter biochemistry analysers to the laboratory at Croydon Hospital, which will replace the current Roche analysers. This is planned to take place on 30 September, although this date is subject to change.
As part of the transition process, verification studies have been carried out to identify where tests perform differently on the new analysers. Where a difference has been identified, the data collected has been used to establish new reference ranges.
For many assays there will be either no or very small differences in results. For some assays there will be changes, and new reference ranges will apply.
These changes will be highlighted by comments on results reports.
It is important that clinicians always refer to reference ranges provided with results at the time of review.
The table below summarises the reference range changes.

It is recommended that users review any local clinical pathways involving tests with reference range changes.
