Quality assurance

South West London Pathology is committed to providing high-quality clinical and diagnostic services. Internal quality assurance is guaranteed by strict adherence to analytical protocols and a comprehensive internal quality control programme.

All of our laboratories are accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) which ensures that we meet the stringent requirements expected from a pathology service. UKAS provides accreditation to the internationally recognised standard ISO 15189 Medical Laboratories – requirements for quality and competence. 

All of our laboratories undergo yearly assessments by UKAS, ensuring that they comply with the regulations and requirements set out.

Our Blood Transfusion laboratories are regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and are subject to periodic inspections to ensure compliance.

Salmonella detection to be by PCR only from 1 February 2024
