Test Information

  • Container:
    Stool Pot 30ml (Blue)
     
  • Collection conditions:
    If a hot stool is to be taken the lab will need to be informed urgently within half an hour of taking the specimen. -
     
  • Min vol:
    Fill at least a third of the container. Testing is only performed on diarrhoeal stool specimens (liquid or semi-formed faeces).
     
  • Reporting Frequency:
    TAT - Culture within 3 - 4 days
     
  • Additional information

    If amoebic dysentery is suspected please contact the Microbiologist to discuss the most appropriate investigation. If a hot stool is to be taken the lab will need to be informed urgently within half an hour of taking the specimen.
