Collection conditions:Appropriate specimens include a swab of the lower uterine segment of the cervix.-
Reporting Frequency:TAT - Microscopy results available same day as receipt, culture 2 – 3 days. Some specimens may have prolonged incubation in which case a result will be issued in 5-7 days.
Additional informationA WBC differential will be done on all ascitic fluid with a raised WBC > 250/ml. Swabs stored for ≤ 1 week; Pus stored for a month
