Guided laboratory tours

5 December 2017

In addition to the information stands at St George’s for National Pathology Week 2017 there were also laboratory tours.

Visitors had the opportunity to find out what happens to samples once they arrive in the Clinical Blood Sciences and Microbiology laboratories at St George’s and how results are produced. They also found out how pathologists and scientists are involved in diagnosing, treating and monitoring diseases.

Feedback from the tours included:

  • Fantastic tour that gave me a great insight of what each department deals with daily.
  • Very useful and improved my understanding of the important work the labs do.
  • The staff’s enthusiasm for their work was very apparent and made the tour more enjoyable.
  • Really enjoyed the tour, especially in microbiology where we were shown examples of the work done, from beginning to end.
